  • Copy Editing-With an eye for detail, I’ve edited documents extensively for grammar, spelling, style, and voice. Attached is a sample of a style sheet I created.
  • Creative Writing-I’ve been writing creatively for many, many years. These are personal projects that I edit and submit to various publications.
  • Adaptability-No matter the situation a job has thrown me into, I have risen to meet the challenge quickly. I have always been willing to learn and adapt to new experiences.

Lesson Plans

Below is a link to a Google Doc containing a lesson plan on how to write and avoid ambiguity when writing informational texts. The plan includes Utah ELA standards, rationales for activities, and a grading rubric

Pairing Texts

In this example of matching paratexts with a main text, I’ve illustrated the resources I would pair withe the non-fiction novel Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. Two of these (12 Angry Men and To Kill A Mockingbird) are longer texts that can serve as great background for Stevenson’s novel, but probably won’t fit into a standard curriculum, while the other two resources (deathpenaltyinfo.org and a 60 Minutes interview with Ralph Myers) would be excellent to bring into a classroom and instill even more real-world relevance to the main text.

Style Guides

Below are two style guides created for different organizations for my minor in literary editing. The first is for a local band’s webpage and the other is for the Western Ecology Division’s webpage.

Pedagogical Research

Below are two links leading to explications of a research article exploring how pedagogical content knowledge is constructed and used. The first link leads to a summarized handout version of the information, while the second link leads to a lengthier explication of the article.
